Sei-Chan's Souvenir Saturday

Rainbow Sei: Hello from all of us at The Bridge. I am glad to say it has been a quieter week this week. So, I've had time to inspire #1 regarding today's post, and we decided that it would be nice to do something a little different.

This week, we thought it would be nice to honour our Trav. For those of you who don't know him "The Traveller" turned up one day in the spring of 2015, bearing a strange resemblance to a cat who had been adopted by our neighbours as a stray kitten and has since gone to The Bridge. He was a big boy, older, entire, and battle-hardened, but obviously tired of the life he had been leading. He initially found solace on an old mattress our other neighbour had put on top of an old car in his open shed. #1 started to feed him, initially near that mattress, and then gradually luring him to the back of our garage where she had made a nest of straw for him. He was totally feral and #1 never got closer to him than  few feet, but he quickly understand that his food would now come regularly in two daily meals, and where to find it. He had a dry and safe place to sleep during the winter. In all, he was "with us" for about 15 months. He then disappeared for a few days and #1 eventually found him at the back of our garage. He had clearly suffered a saddle thrombus as he was paralysed in the back legs, but he had managed to drag himself back to the only home he had ever known. He was clearly in pain, and would not eat. #1 did the only thing she could. She managed to grab him and took him to a local vet to send him on his way to The Bridge. He was a precious member of the Poupounette, and #1 had him cremated separately, with his ashes kept inside the home he never knew. Here are a few photos of him whilst he was with us.

Trav is now very much part of our gang at The Bridge and is rather sorry he never learned to snuggle with #1. One day...

  2. I remember when Trav arrived. He lived the life he wanted knowing he had shelter and food. He managed to make his way back home knowing #1 would once again help him and put an end to his suffering. Even though he didn't want an indoor life, he was just as much part of the family but on his terms.

  4. What a nice post from nice friends - it's a special place to let all know they are loved - even if it is not in the traditional way -

This made my #1 think of Butterskhotch and Brofur in TADN's neighborhood -
