Sen-Chan Won "Best Brofur of the Year"!

We were absolutely thrilled to find out this morning that Sen-Chan had come first in the "Best Brofur of the Year" 2008 contest run by The Cats Stephens! We would like to thank everyone who voted for him, and to congratulate not just the other winners, but all the contestants. Every single one is/was a special kitty or woofie. We will apparently be receiving winner badges to display on our websites but, in the interim, we would like to devote this column to some of the best shots of Sen-Chan being the exceptional brother he was.

When he first came to live here, he was the only "4-Paws" in the house, but we had frequent visits from the neighbours' dog, Madrac, who herself went to the Bridge last month. Sen-Chan welcomed her with open paws from Day One:

Tom came home one month after Sen-Chan and the two were best friends right from the start, and shared snuggles, sleeptime and playtime:

And then, on October 20th, Tama-Chan came to live with us. She was terrified of Sen-Chan at first, hissing and growling at him with all her might, but he would not give up on her, and kept reaching out to her until she understood that he only wanted to love her.

Of course, he and Tom remained best friends through all this:

But the bond between the two cats was such a joy to see.

As you know, Sen-Chan left us very suddenly to go to the Bridge on January 2nd. We are all still reeling from the shock and miss him every minute of every day. But, Tommy obviously learned a lot from him, and as soon as Sen-Chan was gone, he immediately took over care of little Tama-Chan, and has been her friend, guardian and prince ever since. The lesson of love that Sen-Chan taught us all will always be with us.

  4. We're all so pleased that Sen-Chan won. He certainly deserved it! And what a sweet retrospective of his all-too short life. He was one of those "pay it forward" kitties...he made life better for his companions like Tom and Tana-Chan and now that he's gone, they can carry on the lessons he taught on how to get along and be good siblings.

  9. Oh goodness I'm leaking badly now... I miss my sweet Sen-Chan so much still, I guess I always will to some extent just like you do Tama-Chan and you too Tommy. But I have such a big belly full of kittens now and just days more to go until they are ready to be born! :) I know Sen-Chan would be very supportive of me at this time and luckily my brother Ramses is here to help, along with Mummy and Daddy - not forgetting D'Boy! ;)

Anyway you can see my huge belly today Tama-Chan, I can feel the little kittens moving in it quite often and Mummy can even see them sometimes, but they're tightly packed it seems so she'll just have to wait a few more days to know how many I have! ;)
