Sad Sunday

Tom
: We are all feeling sad today as we had to say goodbye to our friend, Polka Dot, last night. She was the neighbours' pet sheep and #1 knew from the time she was born. She was a runt and had to be bottle fed (with her mother's milk) the first 24 hours. But she was a real little fighter and she eventually returned to her mother who raised her to be a very fine little lamb.

#1 nicknamed her Polka Dot for obvious reasons:

Her end was sad in that she broke her leg so badly, probably slipping in the grass that has become incredibly soggy and slippery as a result of the incessant rain if the past week, that she could not be saved and had to be helped to the Bridge.

I of course knew her and always treated her with the great respect she deserved. #1 often took her pieces of really hard stale bread which she adored. None of our current kitty siblinsg ever met her but Sen-Chan did actuually make friends with her:

We buried her this morning in her field. Rest peacefully, sweet Polka Dot, and enjoy the lush fields at the Bridge where you are doubtless happy to be reunited with your Mama.

  12. There is something especially tragic about the untimely death of someone who fought so hard for her life. It doesn't seem quite fair, does it?
We hope she managed to cram a lifetime of love and joy into the few years given to her. God bless her.

  28. Tommy, we are sad with you. Poor Polka Dot, that was just such a shame. Mom worries about TD and Ciara when there is a frost on the grass these past few mornings. They race doing zoomies all over the yard. She worries about them hurting their legs too.

Our hearts go out to Polka Dot's family.
