Tama-Chan's Tatami Thursday

Tama-Chan: You may remember that we have a space in #1's study with Japanese tatami mats. Lately, I have been spending a lot of time there.  It is a beautiful and peaceful space, and #1 says I enhance its beauty further by sitting or sleeping on the big "zabuton" floor cushion.

It's also a good place to play as it is a no-go area for Tommy (his feet not always being as pristine as mine and Sei-Chan's...).

And yes, my little sister occasionally joins me there for high drama. The posturing has been known to be worthy of Kabuki theatre!!!

We have sunshine here today. We hope you do too!

  3. That certainly is a beautiful sanctuary. Forgive me, but what are tatami mats? Do they have any significance in Japanese culture? I have never heard of them before, and I like learning new things. :)

  7. Please send some sunshine our way! Windy and overcast here!!

Tama-Chan - you look very well in that special room.

We were very happy to get a letter in the post from you all today - the card is gorgerous - made the little man smile a lot! A great photo of you Tom! We really appreciate your donation for Guide Dogs - there was really no need - we were happy to just send the pins out - but we do really appreciate your kind generosity!

A letter from Guide Dogs will be winging its way to you soon!

On behalf of Guide Dogs here and our SHADES campaign - many thanks!

lots of woofs from us all

  8. Tama-Chan looks so beautiful in her Japanese room. In the third picture, it looks like she is going to paint some sumi-e when she wakes up! And in the first picture of Tama-Chan and Sei-Chan, i think i can hear some hissing and growling to accompany those unfriendly body postures...it would appear that Sei-Chan is being the aggressor!

  10. I think I might have to scratch a bit at the mats...they look like they would be fun on the clawrs. That does look like an awesome Kabuki show!

  13. You beautify everything wherever you go. NZ's looking a bit shabby, so I think you'd better come over...

  14. I wish I could have a tatami room! Well, maybe when I get my own place which might happen sooner than we all think :)

Tama-chan, you truly do enhance the tranquility of that room when you are on your zabuton. I look forward to having that sense of serenity!

  19. It's very nice to have your ladies only space. We really enjoyed your "dramatics" as well!

Tom gets to go outside all the time so it is only fair that you have a special place too.
