First up is Ikkyu who was a great traveller. He was my only pet for the whole 15 years we were together, and so he came with me as much as possible, and as far as possible! In the early days, we lived in Japan and travelled to France regularly. Things were flush for us and his Lordship Ikkyu was used to Business Class travel. Air France was particularly relaxed about letting him out of his carrier, and he lounged in luxury for the duration of the flights!
Sen-Chan and Yuu-Chan never engaged in any real travel, other than all-too frequent trips to the vet. Sen-Chan, quite exceptionally, became the only Poupounette cat to be allowed outside to roam. He loved this and mostly hung out with Tommy, coming back as soon as he was called.
By the time Yuu-Chan came along, we had the cat run and he always enjoyed his time there. Here he is, exploring it, just a few days after he arrived:
I hope you have enjoyed this little trip down (my) memory lane.
For those who asked after seeing yesterday's post, the butterfly is a Peaccok. As for the ladybirds, they are everywhere! I went to pick some lavender yesterday and they were on so many of the stalks!
Wow! Ikuyu had his own seat on the plane. What a handsome fellow he was.
ReplyDeleteYour friends,
Niamh & Ambrose
He is a perfect prince, so handsome! Do airlines let kitties in the plane? Rumblemum is wondering?
ReplyDeleteForever Friday is a great idea! Sen-Chan looks so tiny next to Tom. Ikkyu sure had it good on the planes. Sweet Yuu-Chan looks so happy in the run.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are enjoying nice weather for a change. It is always bittersweet to remember our friends over the bridge. I like adventure cat all exploring with Tommy.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
Wow Ikkya had his own seat? What a lucky boy!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely strolling down memory lane with yoo ~ we should never forget those who have gone before. We're glad this will be a regular spot on Fridays.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with us #1. We think of Sen-Chan and Yuu-Chan often.
ReplyDeleteNose kisses

What a lovely idea. Ikkyu sure was a lucky boy to travel so much, and in such style!
ReplyDeleteWe are so amazed to hear that Ikkyu-san traveled in Business Class with you! We want to go in the cabin with our Mummy too!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a beautiful gang. Each and everyone of them have such a sweet, gentle face! It is nice to remember all your angels and sweet babies.
Purrrrs, Keiko, Kenji, Pricilla & Yuji
Wow Ikkyu travelled 1st class and had his own seat on a plane - we hope he had business class meals too!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't know Sen-Chan either although mum says she had seen him via Isis's blog (UK) and can remember him well.
Yuu-Chan looks so dainty on the logs in the run - we love how his paw is lifted up and his tail is high in the air.
We will enjoy your memory lanes.
thank you for sharing!!! that's so cool that Ikkyu was allowed to sit on the plane like that!
ReplyDeleteWhat a khool feature!
ReplyDeleteWe'll be looking to seeing more of these pawesome tails and tales -
Sen-Chan was obviously NOT of the Siberian branch of the Abyssinian world!
Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
PeeEssWoo: Hi Tommy!
This is very nice. We look forward to reading more Forever Fridays. Travelling biz class AND getting to lounge about. THAT is the way to travel, not in small carriers!
ReplyDeleteToro and the amigos clan
What a great idea - it is so lovely to read about Those Who Have Been Before, and keep their memories alive. We also now know that we can demand a seat for each of us if we are flying - and no economy class for us!
ReplyDeleteWow! Business class. Even Flat Chey had to fly coach and it wasn't even as far!
ReplyDeleteWe love seeing the different lifestyles of cats and what great memories!
We love the idea of Forever Friday! We may have to do a post or two ourselves, as the two cats who came before us are both at the bridge.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos and to learn more about Ikkyu and Sen-Chan, who we never met.
Have a lovely weekend!
Thank you so much for sharing your trip down memory lane. Ikkyu-san was quite the handsome man cat.
ReplyDeleteI think I started reading your blog right before Sen-chan fell ill, so I don't really remember him too well. So, I'm glad you're starting Forever Friday so I might get to know him.
And French Lavendar sounds lovely.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Great post! His own seat....cool!
ReplyDeleteI am impressed by Ikkyu's poise and class. He certainly traveled in style. Sen-Chan and Yuu-Chan also clearly had a sense of adventure, although it didn't take them quite as far.
ReplyDeleteWhat a magnificent trio of boys!
What a wonderful trip down memory lane. We think it will be great to learn more about Ikkyu - it is so cool he got to ride on the plane like that. And it is wonderful to remember Sen-Chan and Yuu-Chan - they may not have been world travelers but we know they had wonderful lives at home.
ReplyDeleteWe love your idea for Friday Posts. The Baby is quite envious of the style in whick Ikkyu traveled...she had to fly in a mail bag, under the seat!! (long story...)
ReplyDeleteWe are catching up on our comments today...yesterday's butterfly was gorgeous! Mommy says they used to get lots of Japanese ladybeetles in Illinois, and they would BITE!
Tommy, we enjoyed seeing your romping-stomping grounds, it was fun. The cows look HUGE! We bet Yuu-Chan would have liked to make friends with them.
Happy Friday!
OH my! Ikkyu had the travel life! And I love the photo of the ladybug on the lavender! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWe love the idea of Forever Fridays - thank you so much for sharing the kitties with us!
ReplyDeleteCharlemagne and Tamar

Mom found several ladybugs on our front door window today:) She thought of The Poupounette when she saw them.
ReplyDeleteWe really enjoy traveling down Memory lane with our blog furiends. It is nice to hear about the pets of the past. We are long overdue for a Monday Memory at our place.
Have a good weekend.
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
Loved this post for so many reasons. One of which is that we hear of travel loving kitties, but rarely meet them. It's pretty cool that Ikkyu was a world traveler.

ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
We love this new feature of Forever Friday! We're impressed that Ikkyu got to sit in the seat on the plane!!
ReplyDeleteWe call ladybirds "ladybugs." Sometimes we get them inside our house and we like to play with them!
I loved reading about Ikkyu...
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing cat!...must have been to get such VIP treatment!
Love the teamwork between Tommy and Yuu-Chan too.
