Freaked Out Friday...

Tom
: Well, actually, it's #1 who is freaked out and it has nothing to do with any of us, so we are busy giving her lots of moral support. This is what happened: she was driving home from the supermarket yesterday afternoon, and stopped at an intersection to turn left, her indicator flashing, when she was slammed in the rear by another car!!! No one was injured and the other driver admitted full responsibility. The car's rear right side took quite a blow (fender, back end, rear right light, rear right muffler) and she needs quite a bit of work. This is where it gets freaky... The car is old, being a 1995 model, and the insurer is saying that if the cost of repair is higher than the market value of the car, they won't pay for repairs. #1 loves her car, which was her dad's, and she is freaked out. So, please spare crossed paws and purrs for her!

This is what things are looking like at the moment:

Sei-Chan has been crossing everything she's got...

And I'm thinking good thoughts...

  1. Oh noes! I'm sorry the car got hurted. Harley says he will come over with his monkey wrench and try to fix it!

  2. Oh, I'm so sorry. Sounds like French car insurers are just as mean as American ones. Blog Mom says she knows how awful that can be. She once had a car that she'd bought at a very bargain price and it was perfect even though it was kind of old and a drunk guy hit in the rear and that was that. The insurance company gave her the top amount but it wasn't near enough to fix the car. She's still mad about it and it was like a zillionty years ago.

I'm crossing my paws that this works out much better than that for your #1.

  3. We are purring for you that the car can be fixed and that the insurance company will give you the needed green papers (or whatever color they may be in France). We are furry glad that you weren't hurt.

  4. Oh noes! And that looks like it is a gorgeous Jaguar, too (any car named after a kitteh has to be pawsome)!

  5. We are going to purr our tails off that #1 can get the car repaired. We understand how she feels about her car. Our Mom had a car she loved and it was totalled too. (while it was parked!) Mom never got over it. What's worse is the car is no longer made, so she could not replace it.

  6. #1 we are purring that your car can be repaired - it's taking money under false pretences if they insure you and don't want to pay out.
Is there any chance of claiming on the guilty driver who could not have been paying attention.
The only good thing is that you weren't badly injured.

  7. RATS!!! The Jaguar is so beautiful and we can imagine that #1 esteems is very much given it was her dad's. We cross everything crossable that the repair will be covered by the insurance. The Jaguar might be from 1995, but it's a quality car worth repairing! Hang in there, #1, we're purring for this to turn out good. It should and it will!

  9. Oh no! We are so relieved to hear that #1 was not injured. It must have been a very scary experience. We are sending big purrs that the mechanics will find a way to fix up the car while staying under the insurance amount.

  10. Oh no! We hope it can be fixed! That's difficult. I am glad that #1 is alright too.

  11. So thankful #1 was not hurt. Crossing paws things work out in the end with the repairs. The car must definitely be worth keeping and as Forever Foster says, maybe the repair people can work within the budget of the car's "book value".

  13. Oh that is awful! We are glad everyone is ok but it is too bad the car isn't! We are crossing paws and fingers that it is able to be fixed by the insurance. Hopefully it won't be too expensive a repair so your mom can keep the car she loves!!

  16. I'm glad #1 wasn't hurt. I'm also glad none of you were hurt either. That's what's important. Give #1 a nose kiss from me to help keep her going.

  20. Sounds just like what would happen here. We are so glad #1 is OK and not hurt at all. But that is too bad about the car - we hope the insurance will pay for the repair. Tell her to fight them for it.

Hope you can all still have a nice weekend.

  23. Sorry about the accident. We had someone run into the back of the Jeep couple of weeks ago - with all of us in it - but, fortunately, everyone was ok and the damage to the Jeep was fairly minor.
