Vidock: Studly Neighs, EveryFriend! All you pussycats and woofies out there, do you have any idea just how miserable our horsey lives are made by flies in high summer! It is AWFUL! There are fly sprays but their effectiveness lasts about three minutes, and that is why we tend to stay indoors as much as possible when the sun is shining and mercury rising.
Of course, we have our solution sets to this ugly problem, and today, I have a couple of photos to share with you:
Yep. A good roll in the dust goes a long way to helping chase away those ugly critters. The thing that works best of all, however is rain. Lots of it! So here is hoping for a shower or three!
Violette: Pretty Neighs, Everyone. For once I have to agree with the big boy. Rolling is definitely the way to go this time of year:
Héloise: Cute Neighs! It's me, Héloise! I haven't yet mastered this rolling business, but I do know that when I see #1 coming, there are apple slivers coming with her! Coming your way, #1!
that's rock n' rool and I like ti... I will follow your advice... hope I will not land in the bathtub :O)
ReplyDeleteOur Julie loves to roll on the porch floor.
ReplyDeleteThere is some dirt there but not as much as you have outside.
Good that the dirt offers relief from those annoying flies!
Heloise, we are happy that you have discovered the joy of apple slices from #1 :)

That's too bad the flies make it so hard for you to enjoy summer days. :-(
ReplyDeleteSqueeeee! Baby Héloise! So adorable!
ReplyDeleteFlies are so annoying. We'll keep our fingers crossed for warm summer showers.
BOL your like a doggie in the mud

Flies are so annoying, our horsy neighbors told us too, and they agree with you : a good roll in the dust is the most helpful against them. Sweet Héloïse, we're sure you'll master the roll in the dust very soon. Purrs
ReplyDeleteThankfully you can have a good roll to discourage the flies but can we say, flies are the most disgusting thing ever?! We feel your pain!
ReplyDeletethe critters in the cottage xo
A horse has to do what a horse MUST do, Vidock and Heloise! You'll get the hang of it soon, I'm sure, Violette!
ReplyDeleteVery smart girl, Heloise!!!
ReplyDeleteMom has a product called Whup a bug that does a great job of repelling those pesky bugs from her. Maybe something like that would help the V's.
Woos - Lightning and Misty
You look so cute with your belly up :-) But I know how annoying those flies are! They come harrassing me when I go out on the deck! I may try rolling around :-)
ReplyDeleteYou three are a treat to the eye! I love seeing a good roll. Some time ago when I was first married we lived in Florida and our property was against a wire fence that helped serve to contain a horse belonging to someone whose home we could not see. The horse always came to the fence when I was out. I gave him sugar, apples and carrots. He used to get down and roll in the sand (all our ground is sand there in FL.) and it was great fun to watch him enjoying himself.
ReplyDeleteThat really is letting the good times roll Vidock!
ReplyDeleteFlies to you must be like skeeters to humans. Stay dirty, stay wet!
ReplyDeleteThose flies sure can be pesky. You two sure know how to have a good roll in the dirt.
ReplyDeleteI can see how much you are both enjoying a good roll. The horses here like it even more after a downpour so that they can get plastered in mud. I imagine that you both enjoy that too.
