Wednesday's WOW Whinnies!

Violette: Vidock told you on Monday that we would have some fun photos to share with you today. Here is what happened. There is a 12-year old girl called Lysa who has recently started spending a lot of time at Ms. C's place. She has her own (small!) pony and rides really well, and she expressed an iterest in riding Percherons. So, Ms. C suggested that the two of then ride the two of us, to see how we would do together. As you know, we have quite different morphologies, so it was not a given that all would go well.

Here we are, ready to roll:

At first, the Big V pulled away, as he tends to do:

But then I showed him that I could go fast too!

And then, the magic happened! There we were, so close together, and we were perfectly in sync! Let me show you!

And even when we slowed down!

#1 was so proud of us and so pleased! Both us Vs had a great time, as did Ms. C and Lysa!

As you can imagine, we both got great treat buckets afterwards!

Tama-Chan Tuesday

Tama-Chan: Greetings, Dear Friends! The other day, I was sitting with #1, shooting the breeze, and I was suddenly inspired by what she was reading!

It seems to be that opera is all about opening your mouth as wide as possible and belting it out, so... next time I was in the cat run, I decided to have a go:

Hmmmm... that felt very nice, actually!

As you know, I take my job of supervising #1 very seriously. Which is why I really don't know why she was not more pleased to have me there the other morning:

Her breakfast? What do you mean, her breakfast?

Ah well. I think I shall get back to my upward dangles:

Not that I'm planning to stop my supervising or anything...

Manly Monday

Vidock: Handsome Neighs, EveryFriend! I have lots of fun photos to share with you for Wednesday Whinnies, but here first are some of Ms. C riding me last week:

Don't I look good? Wouldn't YOU love to ride me?

Genji: Hey #1! Come over for a cuddle!

Always ready and willing!

Ollie: When it's hot, it's very important to stay properly hydrated!

So you have enough energy to run in the fields!

I know... I have a VERY long tongue!!!

Snuggles on Sunday

Tama-Chan: Welcome to this week's SoS post! I would like to start by thanking all those who helped me celebrate my birthday, both here and on Facebook! I was very touched.

Now, let's get down to business. I think we have mentioned in the past that a certain blue boy is a bit of a tart when it comes to snuggling with everyone and anyone. Do you want proof? Well... the guy came this week for the annual maintenance on our water softener. It's been the same guy for a number of years now, and this is how Genji welcomed him:

A couple of days later, another guy came to check our roof structure and we both made a beeline for him, but he did not seem to be a cat lover ,and #1 had to chase us away!

Anyway, at least I can snuggle with #1 whenever I want.

We haven't yet begun to snuggle with him much, but I have to say that that Ollie is a champion snuggler...

He can almost give Genji a run for his money!

I am happy to say that the two Vs were both available for snuggle pics this week!

Finally, we have a special guest today in Mr. M, a friend of #1's who has lots of cats on his big property and adores them all. Here he is with one of them:

Wishing you al a very snuggly Sunday!

Tommy's Souvenir Saturday

Rainbow Tommy: Woofs Everyone! How have you all been doing? Little Sei-Chan said it would be OK for me to host this week, for a change. I also wanted to wish my sweet little Tama a Happy Birthday once again! I miss being able to woof in the flesh! So, I thought I would do a souvenir snuggle post, featuring me! Does that sound like a good idea to you? I will go chronologically

The first kitty I snuggled with was Sen-Chan. He and I were kids together which was so much fun!

Sei-Chan was of course my #1 fan, and I loved to snuggle with her!

In this pic, I am snuggling with both Yuu-Chan and Da Beebs:

Da Beebs starting snuggling with me when he was still very young!

I also wanted to share with you this pic of me with Madrac, TOWCB Fernant. She was such a great pal, and it's been fun being with her again at the Bridge!

I hope you have enjoyed this slightly different Souvenir Saturday post. Sei-Chan wil be back with you next week!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TAMA-CHAN!

#1 here. We have had a lot of sadness on this blog over the past months and so it is doubly joyful for us to write a post today celebrating our Queen, Tama-Chan's, 11th birthday!

You may not remember or know, but Tama-Chan came to Poupounette Central as something of a rescue. She was born at a breeder's, one of a litter of five little girl kittens. She was the only one to have small deformities on both her front feet. The right one only has three toes instead of four, and the left has a couple of atrophied toes. This in no way restricts her movements but it basically made her unsellable as a pedigree kitten. Her breeder therefore gave her to me, on condition that she produced one litter of kittens for him.

Here she is, on the right, with her sisters, when she was about 5 weeks old:

 She was so cute!

This was probably the first time she met Tommy, who became her life-long friend, when she was 6 weeks old:

When Tama first came to live at Poupounette Central, she was adopted by Sen-Chan who looked after her like the kindest of big brothers:

And when Sen-Chan left for the Bridge when Tama was only 5 months old, Tommy took over:

Tama in turn was a good sister to Sei-Chan:

And she was a wonderful mother to her 4 kittens:

But Tama was always a little distant (except when it came to being brushed!). She was not particularly cuddly except when she chose to be. Yet, she was there, as the fortunes of the Gang went up and down. Several years ago, she started coughing badly and we were worried that it might be a heart condition. But various tests, including a CAT Scan, showed nothing wrong with her heart. It turned out it was some kind of allergy, although we have never found out to what. So, for the last few years, she has been one the lowest possible dose of cortisone  which I adjust, according to her state.

She was very put out when Bibi, her son, did not leave with the others at weaning, and never liked him much. The strange thing is that, ever since he left, she has suddenly become the snuggliest cat around. She is always seeking me out! She has also become a lot more relaxed in her demeanour, so that we now have regular sessions of this:

Ever since we started blogging, we have lost five of our members (plus Trav); Sen-Chan, Yuu-Chan, Sei-Chan, Tommy, and Bibi-Chan. Aside from me, Tama is the only one who has known them all and carries their memory within her. In a strange twist of fate, the loss of Tommy and Da Beebs has brought the two of us closer together, and I think we both find equal comfort in the other.

HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY to the one and only Mama Tama, Queen of this house! You are and always will be treasured! May we share many more years together.
