This blog was started in June 2008 by a young sorrel Abyssinian cat called Sen-Chan and a slightly younger English Springer Spaniel called Tommy. The years that followed were full of hellos and goodbyes. Some, like Sen-Chan and Yuu-Chan, were lost very young. Other Abys like Sei-Chan, Bibi, and Genji stayed with us for quite a few years. But they too have gone now, as has Tommy. In the interim, several Percheron horses joined the family, starting with Vidock in 2010, Violette in 2012, and then Hotesse and Heloise in 2020. They contribute to the blog regularly. But the mainstays are Ollie, also an English Springer Spaniel, Tama, an Abyssinian queen who has been with us since late 2008, and Benkei (Benny), a little ruffian who joined us in 2021, followed by Momo in 2022, and another Aby boy, Ryū, in 2023.. We live in rural France, in a region called the Perche, which is famous for its heavy horses.
#1 here. The other day, I was going through some old photo files on my computer and found this lovely portrait of Ikkyu, my first cat:
The photo was taken on November 1, 2003. We were already living here in France at the time and Ikkyu was a very healthy 11-year old. He was a wonderful companion, devoted and sweet, but only to me! Definitely a one-person cat!
Wasn't he a beautiful mancat - he had such lovely eyes. We wonder what Illyu would think about all your furries now. btw the word verification is chanitio
Arrestingly beautiful boy! Such an air of mystery and reserve about him. His big luminous eyes the only tip-off that he is deep in thought. What a treat to be so loved by an animal. You were blessed.
Mommi loves looking at old photos , but usually winds up getting all teawy aftew. Ikkyu looked like a most bootiful kitteh and I'm suwe gave you lots of love smoochie kisses ASTA
What a handsome boy Ikkyu was! My human heard that Abys and Somalis tended to be one-person cats, which is why she got me. My feeling about it is that means I am basically "stuck" with her.
Gorgeous. Just gorgeous!! Mom said that it is interesting to see how Ikkyu has a white chin and jaw line...did he always have that because Mom could swear that my jaw line has gotten whiter with age so she was wondering if Ikkyu's did too. He sure is beautiful. Of course, I am terribly partial to you Abbys being one myself. You are the ultimate in beautiful cats there in your house...I'm also impressed by how well you guys get along with the canine. I manage to occasionally hiss at ours, but I would NEVER think to sleep near him or against him!! Heaven forbid!! Sure, your canine seems like a pretty nice guy...ours is a raging maniac..hyper spastic livewire...ach, what are us aging cats to do??? Vidock is so handsome...we love to see pictures of him though I'm sure both Lautrec and I would be scared out of our minds if we happen to be near him!! So much for being tough kitties, eh? Purrs to you all, from all of us. Tiny, Lautrec and Ellwood the dawg
What a wonderful experience it must have been to be the Assigned Person to such a handsome loving boy. Ikkyu sounds like he was a one in a million Cat.
What a handsome fella - khat or not ;-)
