Vidock and Violette Vendredi

Vidock: Studly Neighs, EveryFriend. We have a tale of woe to tell you today... You see, horsies, just like people, should see the dentist once a year, and yesterday was the day. For us horsies, the dentist actually makes a house call but, believe me, it doesn't make it any more fun. And may I say that I would like to lodge an official protest against #1 who told me I was a spoiled sissy who engaged in grand theatrics when there was no reason to. NO REASON? You call that drill no reason? Well, OK, it wasn't a drill. Just a float to smooth around the edges, but it made that awful sound. And no, #1 I didn't almost crush you against the wall on purpose...

Violette: Pretty Neighs, Everyone! Can you see my halo? Can you????? I was an absolute angel for the dentist, unlike that macho Big V. For once, I got ALL the compliments and thoroughly deserved them. And it just so happens my teeth hadn't grown as much as his, so I needed less work. If only he would understand that it was all for his own good. It hurts when horse teeth get too long and then injure the gums.

Anyway, we both have perfect pearly whites now!

See you next week. We'll have lots to tell you as the excitement builds up!

Thankful Thursday

Da Beebs: Greetings to all my fans! #1 said I could have today's post since I spend all day every day talking anyway.

I would like to second my Mama Tama in saying how wonderful it has been to have #1 at home with us. Now the fact is that she is going to be hugely busy (that is a lot busier than her usual crazy schedule!) starting this evening but, whatever is involved, she will be home to sleep with us each and every night, and for that we are all truly thankful!

And I am holding you to that, #1!

Now to explain things a little further, #1 is involved in organising a major Japan-themed Percheron horse event on August 15th. The first three Japanese are arriving tonight and nine more get in next Tuesday. Here is the poster for the event:

Both Violette and Vidock are going to be heavily involved in this festival, so they will tell you all about it as they get ready, and when the time comes. In the meantime, we will try to post normally but will probably not be able to visit as regularly as we would like for a while. Please forgive us.

Wednesday Winner & Woofies

Tommy: We rolled the dice yesterday to determine who would be getting the photo exhibition catalogue from Tama-Chan's birthday and the winner is FLYNN! Congratulations to you, Flynn, and your Mum, Jackie.

Fernant's family came back from holiday as planned yesterday afternoon and he is happy to have them home although his Mum says he looks a little sad at not having his favourite playmate there all the time. We thought we would share these two photos taken here on Monday evening:

He is pretty crazy but he is a good buddy:

Here is the official souvenir portrait of this session of Camp Tommy:

#1 saw these when she was out shopping in a different pet store from the usual this week:

My birthday is coming up soon...

Tama-Chan Tuesday

Tama-Chan: First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the lovely warm wishes on my birthday. I got lots of nice comments on the blog and lots more on FaceBook. I am a lucky girl.

My birthday gift was a lovely new collar. #1 brought his one back from Japan. She attached on it my nametag and danglies, so it's now all mine!

It has been really very nice at Poupounette Central recently. #1 is very busy, yes, but she is here and we just enjoy having her at home. I of course also have been enjoying lying in sunpuddles:

As well as supervising from my favourite perch:

Although it can be hard to keep one's eyes open when things are quiet...

And to finish off today's post, here is an almost full body dangle!

#1 tells me we will have the results of the Percheron catalogue draw tomorrow, so please stay tuned if you put your name down!

Manly Monday

Tommy: As you know, my friends, Mad Fernant has been with us for almost a week now, and the two of us have been very manly in our pursuits.

Take a look at this:

And how about this one?

I did get to go out with #1, just the two of us, when she went to meet a friend, and we enjoyed an outdoor café afternoon:

Genji: I have been concentrating on my beauty sleep lately:

And also doing some sunbathing:

And... hanging out with that mad blonde woofie!

Da Beebs: You remember that series of portraits through the cat flap? Well, I never got one, so when #1 had the chance a couple of days ago, she went for it!

She also took this portrait of me:

And here I am, synchronised naping with my bro, Da Genj:

Vidock: Studly Neighs, EveryFriend! I had a pretty quiet week last week, so nothing much to report.

Ambling over to see #1:

Enjoying my treat bucket:

And that really was about it. But I have a much more exciting couple of weeks coming up! Uncle E is coming to get me on Thursday and I am going back to my birth home until the middle of the month. More on that later!

Basha: Mee-Yow, Everyone! Since #1 is looking after me too at the moment, I thought it would be OK to post a couple more photos for the fair Loustiquette.

Here is my sultry look:

And here is my "come hither" look!

Tama's Birthday Sunday!

#1 here. Today is a very special day at Poupounette Central as our reigning Queen, Tama-Chan, celebrates her 7th birthday! Perhaps some of our newer friends are not familiar with how she came to be one of us. When this blog started, it was written by Tommy and Sen-Chan, both of whom were very young at the time. Then, one day, I got this photo from Sen-Chan's breeder:

I was totally transfixed. On closer enquiry, I found out that she was one of a litter of five sisters. She was drop-dead gorgeous but she had a problem which made her unsellable: she had only three toes on her right front foot and a couple of atrophied toes on her left front foot. Would I be willing to take her on condition he could breed her once? I said yes immediately and she moved in. She was a pretty scaredy-cat initially, but Sen-Chan and Tommy were both so sweet to her and she settled in very nicely.

She was devastated when Sen-Chan ran off to the Bridge but Tommy took over her care and, a few months later, Sei-Chan joined the household and the two became good friends:

In the autumn of the following year, she was bred to a handsome Aby boy and on December 4th, 2009, she produced four healthy kittens, three boys and one girl, by Caesarian section:

You all know that one of those kittens was Da Beebs!

And this was Tama just after the kits were weaned!

Ever since that time, there has never been any doubt that Tama-Chan is Queen of the Poupounette Gang. She rules her kingdom with a velvet paw, and is in fact the sweetest, easiest, least-demanding of the Chans!

Here she is at three:

At four:

At five:

At six:

And here is the official seventh birthday portrait!

As an added bonus, here is one of Tama-Chan hanging out with her son, Da Beebs, yesterday:

Da Beebs, Sei-Chan, Genji, Tommy, Vidock and Violette join me in wishing our sweet Queen, Tama-Chan, a Very Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns!

In celebration of Tama-Chan's birthday, we would like to have a draw for the catalogue of my photo exhibition, "The Travelling Percherons." I know that not everyone is into horses, so please say so if you woudl like to be included.

SenSEItional SEIturday!

Sei-Chan: #1 took this photo of me yesterday and I think it is simply senSEItional...

I was relaxing on the cat tree in the kitchen and she says I positively glowed in the sunshine!

This week, #1 also managed to get a glowing ear shot of me:

I am not quite so sure about this close-up. What do you think?

And here I am showing #1 that I am much more interesting to watch than that TV screen:

Last but not least for today is this fun photo. #1 says that I look as though my beddie is floating on a cloud!

Don't forget to join us tomorrow to celebrate Tama-Chan's birthday!
