Here Comes the Rain Again.....

OK. It's not fair. It's JULY and the weather STINKS!

We are officially depressed...

.

Sen-Chan: Well, Tom is definitely depressed but I am busy dreaming good dreams... Pretty ISIS, this photo is for you:

Helping in the Kitchen

Sen-Chan: I mentioned in an earlier post that I was a gourmet and, when you love food, you have to be prepared to do kitchen duty. So, I decided to give #1 all the help I could as she was preparing our lunches today.

A little meditation over the cooking rice...

Making sure the dishes are washed...

Tasting my food as it is being served...

oops... a momentary distraction... something dangling!

And now, I can beautify myself...

But wait, wait....
Tom just got his lunch. I'm sure he needs a taster...

That was definitely a lot of hard work!

Saturday Minus Sun

The weather forecast lied. Again.... It' grey, and rainy and muggy. YUK!

TOM: Last night, #1 spent HOURS combing through my ears, removing a zillion burrs, pricklies and knots. So, she wasn't too enthusiastic about my going back into the field to get more this morning. Instead, we went to our medieval chateau! Handy having one, don't you think? It's not far from the house, more than 800 years old, and has a huge moat that was never filled in, with a nice walk all around it. There was nobody there and so I could run around, and up and down. I had a great time! #1 didn't take her camera but this is what the castle looks like, from an earlier shot:

SEN-CHAN: No fancy outings for me so I entertained myself as I could at home. Looking exceedingly handsome is one way of passing the time, of course:

Wishing everyone a GOOD WEEKEND!

Brothers...

First of all, HAPPY 4th OF JULY to our American Friends!

SEN-CHAN: A number of you have expressed some degree of astonishment at how well I get on with Tom, so I thought I would tell you more about him, and me of course!

First of all, I am the older brother, with all the deep respect owed that this entails. Tom is 6 whole weeks younger than I am. Now he may be considerably larger in terms of bulk and weight but he definitely knows who's boss.

Exhibit A:

.

Of course, being boss isn't just about biting the other into submission, I have to keep that big ruffian clean as well:

Sometimes, we just "horse around," so to speak:

And he provides very comfortable cushioning for various "activities:"

So that's our story. I'm pretty jealous of Tom because he gets to go outside and romp but other than that, he is a pretty good brother.

Discoveries

First of all, we would like to say thanks to all of you who have been visiting our blog and made nice comments. It's great to meet new friends. Keep writing!

TOM: Life is always exciting for me but it was super exciting last night when #1 and I went out on our last patrol of the night before going to bed. I discovered this strange "thing" with lots of prickly things sticking out of it, and was about to give it a push with my nose when #1 said NO in that voice that must be obeyed. She then gave me a lecture about never, ever being mean to hedgehogs, so I guess I will have to be friends with them. Unfortunately, we didn't have out camera handy and couldn't take a photo.

Then, in the field this morning, we met Gwendoline again (she is the red-legged partridge) and I just HAD to chase her. It's in my every molecule! She flew off saying some not very nice things and I almost flew in pursuit. Of course, she won...

and I needed a rest afterwards

SEN-CHAN: My discovery has been of a different nature. Did I happen to mention that I am a gourmet? I LOVE to eat! I have had a number of intestinal problems and so these days, I eat mainly freshly-cooked chicken breast and rice. But today, #1 had a friend for lunch and they had something called pasta. There was an intriguing little bowl to the side, filled with something that smelled divine. I was very polite and waited until they had finished, and then went to investigate. Have you ever had Parmesan, the real freshly grated variety? It is simply divine! I ate every last morsel and am now dreaming about it..

WHERE DID IT GO?!

Yesterday, it was summer and today..... thunder, rain, cool breezes. It's a whole different world!

Sen-Chan, being a cat (and an indoor cat to boot) knows exactly how to deal with bad weather

But it would be more of a bother for Tom, except that Tom never lets anything bother him! Here he is this morning, wet and grinning from ear to ear under the rain:

We hope you are having better weather, wherever you are!

It's HOT!

First of all, we would like to say a big THANK YOU to Ms. C from T'Abby Normal  for helping us out with the layout of the newsletter. You're a good friend!

It is July 1 (Happy Canada Day!) and it is hot in our corner of rural France. The temperature is going up to 30+C (around 90F) today but there is a nice breeze and it is not at al humid, so wonderful!

Sen-Chan has been pretending to be a kitty in the middle of a torrid Japanese summer, by exploring behind the sudare blinds

And Tom is always good about finding a nice shady spot in the garden:
