Violette: Pretty Neighs, Everyone! Well, summer has certainly come with a vengeance here! It was 30C (almost 90F) yesterday and it's supposed to go up to 33C today. According to #1, I am a little bit naughty because I tend to monopolise the shelter in my field, which is the place where there are fewest flies. But, as soon as I see #1 coming, I immediately go over to her!
Of course, she always has apples for me, but she is also very good about putting fly repellent on me. And I am outstandingly good about letting her do it. She doesn't even put on a headcollar, and I stand perfectly still as she sprays me. A lot of horses are frightened of sprays. Can you believe it?
Once I am covered in repellent spray, then it is safe for me to go and graze!
Vidock: Studly Neighs, EveryFriend! Well, I am not as good as Miss Goody-Four-Hooves Violette about the fly repellent. I really don't like the spray much. But I do have a shelter all to myself anyway, so I mostly hang out in there. Except when #1 arrives and calls me!
And I pose nicely for her!
And guess what? My Fairy Godmother, Ms. T, has returned! She spends part of the year in California and the rest here. She came over to see how much I had grown and give me some nice brushies!
Here is hoping you're getting some nice sunshine, wherever you are!
We are glad you two van get some relief from those nasty flies :)
ReplyDeleteYou both look so good :)
Purrs Georgia and Julie,
Treasure and JJ
We're glad you have got fly repellent, flies can be very annoying ! It's hot here too, we enjoy the shadow of the bushes... Purrs
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting - my mares love being fly sprayed and will stand without it, but Baron? Not so much. I wonder if it is a stallion thing?
ReplyDeleteMonty and Harlow
You are looking good Violette and we don't blame you for monopolising the shelter - we haven't been out since early this morning as it is just too hot to mooch about outside.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
You guys are looking good! Hope it cools off a bit for you. Yummy apples are always a good and tasty treat
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
You two look beautiful today!
ReplyDeleteY'all sure are looking great and we think #1 is your favorite!
ReplyDeleteThat #1 sure is great for bringing you guys some apples. :)

Flies are so pesky for both of you. Hope the spray works for you and you are both looking very wonderful
ReplyDeleteThe shelter is the best place to be when it is so hot. Mum says the horse flies this year are the worst she has ever known them and won't go out the door unless she is smelling like a lemon.
ReplyDeleteThat is strange...we have flies here too, for the first time EVER! Maybe it's a climate change thing?
ReplyDeleteWe like how you both come running when #1 comes to visit! We hope it cools off.
ReplyDeleteMiss V our mom used to have a horse and knows how much they don't like the spray. She says you are an amazing girl. Of course we would never expect Big V to be calm around the spray but he sure is looking good.
ReplyDeleteViolette, you look so pretty in that last shot! Flies are so annoying for horses, and we hope that spray works.
ReplyDeleteFlies are really annoying !
ReplyDeleteEspecially the kind that bites you !!
