#1 here. Today, we have a very thankful story to share with all of you. It started terribly. About ten days ago, we were coming back from our evening walk with Ollie when we noticed something strange at the entrance to one of the fields. We went to check it out and found two cat carriers, open and empty. Some awful person had dumped a couple of kitties and driven off. We looked around but couldn't find any cats. Next morning, as we set out, we found a beautiful white cat lying dead on the side of the lane, probably from the shock of losing his home. I disposed of it, and we started looking for the other one. Ollie found her very quickly, cowering in one of the hedges.
It was impossible to get anywhere near her. She was clearly traumatised. I alerted both sets of cat-loving neighbours and asked them to look out for the cat, who seemed to be a small female. I also placed one of the carriers in a more sheltered part of the hedgerow, and put dry food and water in there. Ollie spotted her one more time, but then she disappeared. I was beginning to lose hope when, yesterday evening, one of my neighbours called to say she was in their garden, sitting in front of their shed.
Oh, my goodness. Why do peeps have to do such terrible things. The calico kitty is very pretty. We hope she will soon decide that those friendly neighbors are good peeps and will let her be the new forever home.
ReplyDeleteThat is terrible, that poor white kitty! Thank goodness you saw the carriers and the other cat showed up. I am glad that she will have a home when she becomes less afraid.
ReplyDeleteThere are wonderful people on this planet, and we are grateful that you are among them. You and your neighbours have acted so kindly. We are very happy for the little kitty being the recipient of this love.
ReplyDeleteI will never understand why people dump their pets. How can they live with themselves knowing their babies are at risk for so much pain? We are so happy that you and your neighbor are looking after her. Bless you♥
ReplyDeletePeople are just disgusting that they take their animals and throw them out. No thought to rather than die of starvation or disease. It was a lucky find that Ollie saw those cat carriers and you have tried your best. At least one has been saved and that can be a miracle.
ReplyDeleteWe send purrs to the soul of the white kitty, and thank you, #1 for caring enough to take care of the mortal remains.
ReplyDeletePlease keep us informed of what happens with the calico kitty.

PeeEssWoo: Hi Ollie -One day at The GKP and it is weekEND!
I get very sad to hear about people who dump animals. I am, however, thankful and happy to hear about you and your neighbors and what wonderful blessings you are!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad story for those two kitties, but we hope the one has a happy ending when she can trust enough to step into one of your neighbors homes.
ReplyDeleteThose poor sweeties, they sure didn't deserve that treatment. I'm so happy things are looking up for that pretty calico.
ReplyDeleteChaplin: "This makes us so angry! Our beloved brother Dennis was dumped out in the desert with his mother and two of his brothers."
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "Why do humans do that when there are places that would take their animals in? Oona, you have my permission to go claw them up."
Oona: "Oona does not need your permission, but she appreciates the thought."
Lulu: "We're very sad about the white kitty, but happy that the calico is still there."
Java Bean: "We hope she finds a good home amongst the neighbors soon, she deserves it!"
Bless you, the neighbors and especially Ollie for alerting you to what had happ3ened. It is very sad about the white kitty, and the calico probably lost her friend in addition to the trauma of being dumped. We send purrayers that she can recover and settle in to a happy new home !
ReplyDeleteA bittersweet story indeed. We are sad about the kitty that didn't make it, but you were so good to help the other one. She is quite pretty and we hope things go well for her.

How could someone do something so heartless? I'm glad the kitty is safe now...but many purrs for the other one who wasn't as lucky.
ReplyDeleteThere is a special spot in hell for people who abandon a pet and a special place in heaven for a rescuer.
ReplyDeleteI'm so very, very glad you and your neighbors are determined to help this beautiful cat.
