Tommy: I must say that we do have lots to be thankful for. The biggest thank you is that Vidock's surgery went well and he is back in his field, apparently quite happy. #1 was feeling sick about that one, so it's really big.
We also must subscribe today to a variant of a Japanese phrase that talks of "good luck within bad luck." Yesterday morning, as #1 sat at her computer, the electricity went poof! She checked the breakers (the house is on two different circuits) and saw that it was one side of the house only. She tried to flip the breaker but it wasn't having it. We were about to leave to see Violette, so she called the electrician and said she would be back by 3pm. The wonderful guy turned up at 4:30pm and he discovered that the problem was being caused by one of the accelerators in our boiler. #1 then called the plumber and the electrician gave him all the info, and the plumber promised to come by late morning today. Until then, we have hot water but no central heating. Thankfully, we have a portable oil-filled radiator that is now in our study, and the neighbours have lent us a bigger one that is in the living room. We think that this, plus the speed at which both electrician and plumber have responded is definitely something to be thankful for!
I am also personally thankful for all the yummy food I get. Here are a couple of ssamples of my dinners,. The first is kibble plus some yummy hamburger, rice and vegetables cooked up by #1:
The second is my very favourite, fish, rice and vegetables with kibble!
Last but not least, we are all thankful that we are getting some sunpuddles at the moment!
oh I'm so glad the surgery went well.... and we hope the plumber is not related with the chimney guy who promised us to come tomorrow in the morning... that was in august 2010 ;O))))
ReplyDeleteTommy, I look at those meals and I am envious! #1 really puts together a feast for you.

HOORAY! We are so happy all went well with Vidock. That electric thing is no fun though. Tommy, you're such a handsome guy!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got things fixed so quickly. And for nice neighbors. Also glad that Vidock is doing well after his surgery. He will be a much happier boy in the long run. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteWe're so happy to hear Vidock is back in his pasture. You are lucky to have such responsive repairmen to help you out. Those dinners look yummy.
ReplyDeleteVidock's surgery reminds me of the day I dropped off Angel and Chuck to get spayed and neutered, and I cried while driving away! They were our first pets, and in theory, getting them fixed is the only way to go, but when one actually puts their furry friend under 'the knife', it's really difficult. But now I've done it to several cats, and I'm not squeamish anymore. Glad you've got your heat back!
ReplyDeleteLots of wonderful reasons for thanksgiving, Tommy, especially about Vidock. We hope the repairmen can get the heat back on and all back to normal quickly.

ReplyDeleteGlad you like your yummy meals. We are thankful that Vidock is doing well too.
ReplyDeleteVery happy and relieved Vidock’s ordeal is over and he is back at his home. Hope everyone is warm.
ReplyDeleteTommy, your last photo looks like a painting by Dutch artist Henriette Ronner-Knip. Lovely!
