Tom: We are spending the day today looking after #1 who is feeling distinctly down in the dumps. Recent months have seen a series of work-related difficulties and then, just recently, one client behaved appallingly, ditching her in mid-project with no reason other than "I just don't feel this is how I want to do it" and then refusing to pay for all the work done, instead offering half of what she had billed, take it or leave it. Right now, she feels as though she has been beaten to a pulp, and her confidence in her fellow "man" is at minimum levels.
Things were not improved by several of the fields up from the house suddenly getting dug up yesterday which sent both of us into a funk. There are housing development projects in the works and it looked like things were moving much more quickly than had been expected. Fortunately, this morning, we found a nice young man to talk to, and he explained that they were in fact only doing some archeological digging at this stage, to make sure there are no vestiges around. It seems the big construction project won't be happening for another 6-7 years, if all goes well. They said they would put the soil they had dug up back in place and leave the fields be. Phew, but all fingers an paws still crossed.
So here are some photos #1 took last night of one of the fields as we walked around the parts that had not been dug up:
And the most exotic item of all!
And lest we forget.. HAPPY 4th OF JULY to all our American Friends!
Well that is a bit of better news about the field. I was promised I could really explore it in September if I kept off the hay so now I can. Love to everyone (especially my Tom)from Lydia xx
ReplyDeleteThat is one pawesome find in that last pikh!
ReplyDeleteMom and I vote a group hug and khuddle fur #1!
Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
Sometimes people can be such a disappointment...but animals never are :-)
ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry to hear #1 is feeling low and with that client behaving so badly no wonder. How interesting about the archaeological dig and purrhaps they will find something so important the field can't be built on. Paws crossed.
ReplyDeleteWe love Tommy's picture with the daisies - it looks as though one is sitting on his nose!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Hisses to that client! We love your pictures. Have a happy 4th of July "at a distance"!
ReplyDeleteIndeed..hisses to that horrible ex-client and their bad nature and lack of business ethics. No wonder #1 feels badly after all of that going on and then, to see digging taking place? Housing developement knows no bounds it seems. It is always on-going somewhere and no place is safe from it no matter how beautiful, serene and full of wildlife. It can be very sad. The animals and birds who are ousted; their habitat destroyed and food sources driven away...a tragedy every time.
ReplyDeletepurrs to #1. mom had to deal with stupid yesterday as well and it just sucks it out of you (nasty email from an outside attorney aimed at her sent to her boss). take a moment to breathe....and then pet a cat/dog/horse :)
ReplyDeleteNumber 1, you are an amazing person. Please don't let this series of unfortunate people get you down. You have a huge fan club, I, personally am volunteering to be the president!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting that there is an archaeological dig right next to you! Maybe tommy will find an ancient, Roman tennis ball.
Good thoughts and hugs to your family (especially Sei-shhhh! Maybe you can give her a special kiss from me?), coming to you from Maine!
sending good thoughts for #1. Some humans could be mean
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Ah, we wish we were close enough to #1 to give her some of our special head bumps. Tommy, we are so glad she has you, the kitties and the horses to help her through this awful time with people. However, at least the possible construction won't happen right now, maybe never if they find some interesting things there - well, you're interesting enough Tommy, love your pic!

First a hiss at the stoopid client !
ReplyDeleteThen keep my paws crosed for that is going to take a long long time befor the start digging in that field again :)
Then we say WOW about #1 photos , especially the first one !
Tommy, what a wonderful photo of you. I am glad no houses are going into that field for a long time.
ReplyDeletePurrs to your human - it sounds like she has good reason to be feeling blue these days. Look at it this way: it's better to have the negative and toxic ones out of your life, even at a price, than to have them around causing stress. I hope these pretty photos made her feel better - they certainly lifted our spirits!
ReplyDeleteTeleporting over in 3...2...1....
ReplyDeleteGroup purrs and snuggles from all of us kitties...um while Grete goes off to play with Tommy.
xoxo Cory
Our Barbara likes most of her clients a lot but sometimes an occasional stinker comes along. Very demoralizing so we can understand why #1 is not doing well. Give her lots of attention and snuggles. Love all your photos especially the one of Tommy in the daisies.
ReplyDeleteYour friends,
Niamh & Ambrose
oh #1, we are sending hugs, purrs and head butts to you. People can be such poops.
ReplyDeleteWe are hoping that things turn around for you and we are sure that they will.

So sorry #1 is having a tough time. Hopefully she'll perk up in a couple of days. Resting today would be good for her. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteSometimes some humans are just plain stupid and rude. We are so sorry that #1 was treated so badly. We think she has a heart of gold and would never treat another being poorly. Please give her lots of snuggles and hugs from all of us.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
Those are beautiful pictures! We send purrs to #1 and hope things begin to improve. We know they will!
ReplyDeleteWe're so sorry #1 has had to deal with disappointing people lately. We're sending her lots of purrs. Those pictures from the field are beautiful. We especially love the bottom one in which Tommy looks like he has a daisy on his nose.
ReplyDeleteYay that the field is safe for now. Dare we hope for "vestiges", would that cancel the project.
ReplyDelete{{{HUGS}}} and purrs to #1. If she has lemons, time to make lemonade.
Mommy says: Mean people suck.
ReplyDeleteWe are sending our best happy thoughts to #1. She's a really special person in our books! All of you, make sure to act silly and get her to laugh.
Ah the joys of dealing with "some" peoples! Mommy says the rude and bad ones are not worth that hassle but they sure makes yous feels rotten when they tries to drag yous down to their level.
ReplyDeleteMe is happy that your field will be Ok for a while! Perhaps they will have some great archeological fins and and NOTHING will ever happen!
Kisses
Nellie
People can suck and is it me or does it seem to happen more often as we get older?! That in of itself is a disparaging thought...
ReplyDeleteIt's probably better that you lost a bit of money and a lot of stupidity in the form of an unethical client is what we think about the sorry affair!
Cheer up! All those pics are beautiful and a wonderful reminder of life's treasured , treasures :)
Hugs and head bumps and tail wags,
the critters in The Cottage xo
Oh #1, how awful! Sounds like your client is rather unscrupulous and slippery. He says he doesn't like what's been done and pays only half of it's worth. Bet he turns around and uses it. Sly little trick there.
ReplyDeleteHoping the archeologists find something significant and the fields can remain open forever. Our love and purrs to you.
Some days it would just be nice to be one of your kitties or doggie or horses instead of dealing with inconsiderate, rude and irresponsible humans! Hope you find joy today...
