The Pre-Show!


#1 here, reporting from the Percheron World Congress which gets under way today with the conference organised by yours truly. Yesterday was mainly a day for arrivals and settling in, but as the English teams had arrived the previous afternoon, they were available to accept an invitation to take part in the traditional Thursday afternoon presentation at the Haras du Pin. Here are some pics from that:

The 2011 British Champion Percheron Stallion, Willingham Hempsall II:

A 1911 boat wagon (the blue bit could actually be lifted off and used as a boat!)

A unicorn hitch (one horse in front and two behind) pulling a dray from 1900, on their way back to the stables after the show:


I was riding in the vegetable cart which is how I got such a good shot!


Going off in a totally different direction, I also wanted to mention that today marks one year since sweet Yuu-Chan left us to go to the Bridge. We all still miss him so very much. In memory of his beloved presence, I am wearing his last collar as a bracelet over this weekend. I will never forget you, my soulful boy:

    That is really nice that you have his little collar as a bracelet. It keeps him close and I bet it will help send vibes to Vidock. He is showing off this weekend, right?

    We just forgot to breath. Really. Those horsies are stunning...breathtaking!! Then we got a HUGE lump in our throats looking at the picture of Yuu....what a wonderful, sweet boy he was....we miss him too and send you lots of purrs and headbutts to know that he won't be forgotten even by those who never met him. What a lovely boy he was. RIP Yuu. Purrs, Lautrec and Tiny (oh, ok, and Ellwood and Ginger...if you insist!)

    Stunning pictures there of the horses. I would never get a chance at such a sight if you weren't there. I am amazed you have the time to write something for us and very grateful.

    A year already - we miss him he was such a lovely litle mancat in training. We know you will be sad today #1 but he would want you to enjoy your Percheron World Congress. We know Yuu-Chan will be cheering and watching for you from Rainbow Bridge.

    Yuu-Chan was a very special boycat. Even though we live on a completely different continent, we were also very saddened by his passing. I'm glad you have such an exciting weekend - the busy-ness will keep you in a good frame of mind.
