Thankful Thursday

Ollie: Little woofs, everyone! My #1 said I should start by saying thank you for all your nice words about my bro, Beebs. He ate well again yesterday, and we are all crossing paws that the new treatment will work for him, I really want to be friends with him but, so far, he hasn't been well enough to want to play with me. I am thankful, though, that my other Bro, Genji, plays with me, and my friend Sophie too!

But my BEST friend is still Fernant. And guess what? His family is away for a couple of days, so we are having the very first session of Camp Ollie! He and I just have the best time together, whether we are outdoors or indoors!

Beebs Update

#1 here. Yesterday, I took my Beebs to the VetRef referral clinic in Angers, a couple of hours away by car. There he had a very detailed ultra-sound which showed that his bile duct system is seriously compromised. The reason is not clear. It could be genetic or it could be an ongoing inflammation. The good news is that he had put some weight back on having eaten well these past few days, and was back at 4.05kg, from a low of 3.78 the previous Friday.

At this stage, we have no assurance that anything is going to work to make him better, but the first thing that will be done is to put him on a 4-week course of antibiotics, in the hope that it will clear up any persistent infections. He also needs to continue eating, mostly a high protein diet with very low fat. After his 7-hour long ordeal yesterday, he has not been very hungry so far this morning. I will be working to find something that will appeal to him.

The imaging specialist  veterinarian has Somalis, and remembered Tama from a couple of years ago!

Meanwhile, Ollie was fast asleep in Ms. N's arms in the waiting room:

 

It was so kind of Ms. N to come with us and lend us both moral and physical support! Thank you, Ms. N!

We would appreciate any purrs and crossed paws you could send our way. We would really love our Beebs to get better! There has been too much loss already at Poupounette Central recently.

 

Tama-Chan Tuesday

Tama-Chan: I have to confess, Dear Friends, that this has been a rather worrying week for me, with my boy being poorly. However, and I say this with my paw firmly touching wood, his appetite seems to have made a comeback and he has been eating really well since Saturday. He hasn't had any medication, but we hope that this means that he has turned some kind of corner. I am crossing everything I've got for his special vet visit this afternoon. I have been to that place so I know they are good, even though you may remember that I bit one of the veterinary nurses last time I was there!

Even though I have been spending so much of my time in my warm igloo on the landing, I have occasionally resumed my post on the kitchen radiator, because it is such a great place to dangle:

Now Beebs, be a good boy for the doctor over there! He really likes Abys and will probably admire you , just like he admired me!

Manly Monday

Da Beebs: It's me again, everyone! I have to apologise for asking you to purr and cross paws for me yet again. A week ago, #1 thought I was on my way to a full recovery but then I stopped eating again, and my liver function is the absolute pits, even thought my infection is gone. So, as you know, I am heading over to a specialised clinic tomorrow.

In the meantime, #1 has made it her mission to get me to eat and she has been doing well. I ate OK on Saturday and really well yesterday. She is hoping that I will have put on even a tiny bit of weight by the time we go to our appointment tomorrow. If what I have is hepatic lipidosis, getting me to eat is half the battle won, apparently. And in case you were wondering, yes, losing Tommy just devastated me, and I am not used to the new terror yet. But #1 is taking really good care of me.

And I spruced myself up a little. I have lost 30% of my body weight in the past month...

Snuggles on Sunday

Tama-Chan: Hello Dear Friends. Today I would like to start by asking you to cross paws for my son, Bibi. He had his second blood test on Friday and the liver results are still way off. He will be going for a detailed ultra-sound and fine needle biopsy on Tuesday afternoon, at the same referral clinic that I went to when I had my problem a couple of years ago. Having read up on it, #1 is wondering if he is not suffering from hepatic lipidosis. We should know on Tuesday night, and will keep you posted.

Genji has been pretty good about looking after his big brother:

 

#1 has been concentrating on finding things he will eat, as he has lost so much weight. This includes no-fat raw hamburger meat, scrambled eggs, and no fat yogurt. I have been keeping her company in the kitchen as she works on this.

 

Of all of us, Genji has probably adapted best to the pup, and he is back to his regular snuggling with #1:

 

Ollie obviously is doing a great deal of snuggling.

Sei-Chan's Rainbow Saturday

Rainbow Sei: Hello, Dear Friends. It has been a while. We have been keeping close watch over our family at Poupounette Central from the Bridge. Tommy has been keeping a particularly watchful eye over little Ollie, and smiling (as onl yhe knows how to smile) at the though of Fernant as a teacher... Anyway, we thought you might like to see a photo of Tommy when he was not much older than Ollie now is. Look how long his legs were!

 

I of course have been snuggling up a storm with him, just like in the old days!

 

#1 has been going through a lot of old photos and she found this one she really liked of me:

 

Sen-Chan has been so happy to be with Tommy again. They have been having lots of fun adventures, and their old friend Madrac has also been joining them!

 Yuu-Chan says it reminds me of his outings with Tommy too!

 

Ikkyu, #1's first ever cat, was not an outdoor cat at all, but he did venture out once or twice:

 

Trav of course was part of the great outside all along. 

He is teaching the others the ropes!

Vidock et Violette Vendredi

Vidock: Handsome neighs, everyfriend! How are you all? We have had some strange weather lately, but nothing like our North American friends. The most exciting thing that has happened to me in the past week is that I have a new girlfriend.  Her name is Gariguette, which is a variety of early strawberry famous in France. She is absolutely beautiful!

 

She has come to Ms. C's for training. As you can see, she is sticking very close to me:

 

Violette: Pretty neighs, everyone. I actually got to do some work the other day! There was a trainee at Ms. C and I showed her how to work with the long reins.

 

 

This person is looking to make a major lifestyle change and so is training with heavy horses. It would certainly be a big change from her current job: she is a driver on the Paris Metro!
