Wednesday Wonders

First, The Chans and Tommy would like to make a special announcement. They have been following the campaign for CAT RULER OF THE WORLD. This is a really hard one as so many of our friends are finalists, but we have decided to endorse our good friend SPARKLE for this. Why? Well, there is no doubtless something of the old Abyssinian-Somali "thang" at work, but there is another reason: we are great fans of TABBY'S PLACE, an amazing shelter that takes in cats who have nowhere else to go. We are always awed by their work, and it is the shelter that Sparkle has chosen to campaign for. You can find their blog here.

#1 here now, hijacking the blog from New Brunswick in Canada! I am in Fredericton to attend the Draft Horse Show at the Fredericton Exhibition, and wanted to share some of that with you.

Let me start, however, with the trip which took me over the Confederation Bridge, the longest bridge over tidal icy waters in the world at 12.9km (8 miles):

And I loved the sign just as I arrived in New Brunswick:

So, back to big horses! Like all big Draft Horse Shows, this one features Clydesdales and Belgians as well as Percherons, but no prizes for guessing who I came to see!

A lot of work goes into getting horses ready for the showring!

The elegance of the single cart:

It's always nice to see a few greys in the sea of black Pecherons! These guys are from Blue Haze Percherons, in New Brunswick:

The six-horse hitches are always so impressive! The winner this time was Jeff and Mona Fiske's Thunder Hill Percherons, from Kentville, Nova Scotia!

These guys trot around the ring at such a clip that many of the photos come out just like this:

Today will see lots more events, with all the Percheron line classes (in-hand presentations), and several more driving classes in the afternoon!

Tama-Chan Tuesday

Tama-Chan: I have to give it to Ms. A and Mr. D... they have done me proud in the photo shoot department! Following the lovely photos I was able to share with you last week, I have more today! It is so nice to have people around who truly appreciate my outstanding looks!

Here is another lovely series taken in the run:

I really am most satisfied and so can nap the nap of the contended when I am back inside!

In other news, we hear from #1 that she is on the move today, driving from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, to Fredericton, New Brunswick where she will see the Percherons in the Draft Horse Show at the Fredericton Exhibition. We have a feeling there will be some photos tomorrow, and maybe even the next day, so we'll see you when we see you! She returns to PEI on Thursday evening.

Manly Monday

Tom: Can you believe it's Monday again? Ms. A and Mr. D have been clicking away and we have lots of photos to share with you today. Plus, Ms. T went to visit Vidock and send #1 some great pics of him so we do have a full house!

But let's start with me and more of those great outdoor shots!

Here I am, hanging out with The Beebs:

The Beebster in the run:

And enjoying window whiffies:

Making sure the photographic equipment is up to scratch!

Two very manly Genji portraist!

And enjoying an excellent game of feathers!

And here is the "Big V" in all his glory!

#1 did send us a guest submission too for Manly Monday and when we saw the photos, we just had to say yes! Here is PERCY whom she met on Saturday. He was adopted by Ms.M from the PEI Humane Society just a few weeks ago, and has settled right into his new home!

#1 was very taken with his magnificent toehawks!

Wishing you all a great week!

Sunday Sunshine

Tama-Chan: The weather is still lovely and we have been enjoying ourselves in the run and in sunpuddles, and Tommy has had a grand time running in the fields. Just look at him:

The rest of our post will be a bit "Sundry Sunday-ish" and we start with a picture of the Beebs looking for trouble:

Ditto for Genji:

Me supervising:

We do have a snuggle pic from across the ocean for you. Here is our faraway friend, Bitz, getting a snuggle from her Ms. J:

Bitz is a very pretty girl!

Plus we got a last minute snuggle submission from GUESS WHO????? sigh.....

Finally, here are a couple of contributions from #1. Some of the shopping she has done so far:

And a rather intriguing numberplate she came across the other day:

SEIturday

Sei-Chan: Meee-Ow, everyone! I have been feeling a little pensive, pondering the fact that #1 has been gone for two whole weeks...

But one has to be positive! This means that she will be home in another two weeks! Woo Hoo!

So, I have been hanging out by the window:

As you can see, My sister Tama-Chan is keeping her paws firmly crossed that #1 will be back on schedule:

She and I have also been hanging out on Ms. A and Mr. D's bed:

Do you think this is my better profile?

Or would it be this one?

Wishing you all a wonderful SEIturday and our North American friends a great Labor Day Weekend!

Vidock and Violette Vendredi!

Vidock: Studly Neighs, my friends! I have to confess.. I am not easy to locate these days. Big Tom and I are in a long and fairly narrow field and if we are at the end of it, resting under trees, we can be almost invisible. So, it took some doing for Ms. A and Mr. D to find me, but they persevered and eventually got a sighting!

I hadn't realised that someone was actually looking for me!

I am fine and have been enjoying the nice weather and the holiday. I am told that when #1 returns and actually stays put (she is leaving again almost as soon as she gets back from Canada...), my holiday will be over and I will become her trusty steed!

Violette: Pretty Neighs, everyone! I am much easier to locate than my brother Vidock!

And here I am with my "field pals":

I am enjoying being outside although I have to say that the flies are a nuisance. If only someone would invent a truly efficient and non-toxic fly repellent for us horsies!

Today being Friday and also a "Flying Ear" kind of day, #1 sent us the following photo from Canada. It shows her local springer buddy, Leo, doing an impressive "One Ear Fly" demonstration whilst swimming:

Oh, and Genji is going on about it being "Frootbat Friday" and has submitted a portrait of himself, taken by Mr. D:

It does seem, however, that Queen Tama thinks that "that boy is getting a little bit too much coverage of late..."

Happy Friday Everybody!
