Farewell from a Queen

Tama-Chan: Yesterday, #1 and I celebrated our 18th Christmas together. Isn't that absolutely amazing? We have shared so much over the years, and it has been nothing but love for me. Although it pains me deeply to say this, Dear Friends, I have now reached the end of my journey. I managed a whole 16 months after my terminal diagnosis in September 2024, and I did well for almost all of that time. But the disease has taken its toll. I, who was once a tad on the portly side, am now a featherweight. For the last couple of days, even my most favourite foods and treats no longer appeal. The time has come for me to join all the ones I have loved and lost over the years. This morning, I shall be reunited with my beloved Tommy, Sen-Chan who held me in his paws when I was still a tiny kitten, my sister Sei who has been gone so many years, my son Bibi (maybe I'll like him better at the Bridge...), sweet Yuu-Chan, little Genji, and perhaps Hotesse will give me a ride!

My life has been perfect in every way, and it has been long. I hate to leave #1 to those three hooligans (well, Momo is no hooligan, but you know who I mean) and so I have told her that it is imperative that a new queen graces Poupounette Central as soon as possible. An all-boy household is just not on. They will need someone to rule over them with a velvet paw. I shall be doing my best to send someone suitable #1's way.

#1 says she will do a commemorative post at some stage, but it will take a little time. In the interim, the blog will take a short break until the New Year. #1 is going away to Luxembourg from the 30th to January 3rd, so it will be after her return. Mr. G will of course step in. I will leave you with a few photos of me in my prime. And I shall of course see you again in my sister Sei's souvenir posts.

Thank you for your friendship which I have treasured over the years.

  18. I have only recently met you, and I must say, Queen Tama-Chan, you are one of the best and most impressive and beautiful felines I've ever had the pleasure of getting to know.

May your journey be easy, and may your memory comfort those who will miss you most, especially your #1.
