Rainbow Sei: I was already here at The Bridge when this happened, but six years ago today was one of the worst days in our #1's life. There was clearly something terribly wrong with Tommy, very suddenly, and Dr. C broke the terrible news that he had hemangiosarcoma of the spleen, a deadly and silent killer for which almost nothing can be done. When #1 asked how long, the reply was "days" but Dr. C did give us a gift in making Tommy comfortable and seemingly well for what short time remained. #1 and Tommy had six days together, including Christmas, and they poured all the love they have for each other into those days.
Here is a photo of Tommy, taken well before he got sick, showing just how magical he was:
Hugs and purrs on this sad remembrance day.
ReplyDeleteWe never forget our pets. We carry them in our hearts and Minds and I think it is very helpful to share.
ReplyDeleteA sad memorial day, Sei--Chan.
ReplyDeleteA big virtual hug sent for #1. I never knew Tommy in life but feel as though I did. I remember when we met #1 in Hampshire and she showed us the decal of Tommy on her car. I knew immediately how much he meant to her.
Yes - it the nastiest and meanest of the nasty C's -
ReplyDeleteand today we are heading to Kerri's to collect our Hazel Box - and she is having a toy drive to honor her NAT - Timber - who left suddenly a few weeks ago - as #1 knows, he did have his spleen out - and had a few more weeks - but in the end :-(

PeeEssWoo: Hi Ollie - please give #1 some extra snuggles today!
Tommy was one of the most extraordinary, loving doggies we have ever met. We send big hugs to #1 and we hope she can be flooded with comforting memories 🐾
ReplyDeleteTommy loved his #1
ReplyDeleteTommy was #1's "heart" dog. One never gets over the loss. You all be especially kind to her today.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could have gotten to know Tommy. We never quite get over the loss of our special furAngels. Hugs to #1♥
ReplyDeleteThose are such sweet memories of Tommy on his best days with #1 and the gang.
ReplyDeleteYes, it sure was awful when that sweet boy had to leave. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteLulu: "Awww, handsome Tommy. Such a shock to get a diagnosis like that."
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "Something similar happened to our sister Pooh Bear who we never met. Mama and Dada took her to the vet because her tummy felt hard and it turned out she had a tumor on her spleen that had ruptured and they ended up coming home with an empty crate."
Dear Tommy - he was a friend of our Angels and us when we were just puppies. So many fun times in the fields and on trips with #1. He was a good boy. Hugs to #1.
