Thankful Thursday!

Violette: Pretty Neighs, Everyone! You didn't expect me to post today, did you? Well, I have something to be thankful for, so here I am. Other than the fact that #1 is back so I am once again getting my apples and carrots, the farrier came yesterday and I got a pedi and new shoes! Now, there are several different ways to shoe a horse and our farrier goes in for hot-shoeing. Look:

Yes! That's my shoe you see there in the background, glowing red!

And here it is being fitted:

All done!

Then I got my treat bucket, of course!

Vidock: I also got my feet done yesterday. In my case, I get shoes on all four feet (Violette only gets them on her front feet as she doesn't do heavy work for now and she shares a field with a bunch of other horses who are not shod).

And how about a nice portrait of my studly self?

In case you're wondering, the pink spot on my nose got covered in kisses whilst I was being shod. That #1!!!!!! Oh, and I got my share of treats too!

  1. For my human, who does photography, hot shoe means something completely different to her than it does to you two!

  3. We guess it doesn't hurt to have hot shoes or does the farrier cool them down first ?

  5. Great pictures. But doesn't putting that HOT shoe on hurt your hoof - or is a hoof so thick that you don't even feel it. I'm guessing that must be the case because you are standing their so calm.

  7. You two are looking great and glad you got some nice new shoes. Hot shoeing is the best way to do it. They can fit the shoe so much better to the hoof. Have a great day.
