Thankful Thursday

#1 here. This time, I am hijacking the blog entirely for my own purposes. As I reach the three week mark since my departure from France, I would like to express my thankfulness for all the wonderful things I have been able to experience during this time. I am also thankful that, today, I start the countdown to my return to Poupounette Central in days!

I am now in a place called Hachimanta, which is famous for its hot springs. A friend kindly arranged for me to spend the night at a traditional Japanese inn, complete with a magnificent "onsen" (hot spring) made up of four different baths. The decor is beautiful and the baths amazing, and I wanted to share it with you.

This scene greets you as you enter the inn:

This was my room:

As it grew dark, I enjoyed the beautiful lanterns in the corridors:

Ad then there were the baths. First the two indoor baths:

And the two outdoor "roten" baths

As you can see, there was no-one there but me. I was able to try all four of the baths at leisure. A dream!

  8. In the first photo, the little white statue of the dog. Is it there to amuse or is it telling one what to do? I'm mad for lanterns. How wonderful it is to have such a wonderful place all to yourself. It's a dream!

  10. How amazing! The lanterns are beautiful. I assume the baths are done in a certain order since everything in Japan seems to be orderly? You are so fortunate to have this experience!!
