Troubled Waters Thursday

Tommy: #1 was strangely subdued yesterday, and she spent a lot of time "talking" with friends across the ocean. She tells me there is so much sadness, and so much fear, even despair. We wish we could enclose all of you in a big hug of friendship. #1 was reminded of the words of a song most of you will know:

When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I'll dry them all
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

There will be light again, and kindness and generosity, and the love of all.

  1. It looks like your mom is as wise as Mr Schweitzer : “There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life : music and cats.”
—Albert Schweitzer (theologian and physician). We would say "cats or pets (including horses)". Purrs

  11. Thank you Chans. <3

By the way Tommy, my mm always used to have a dog. The last one was named Jack and he was a red hunting dog. His hair was the same color as mom's. She had always had dogs until she married.

  13. Thank you, #1. The humans here are holding out for hope and wisdom to overtake the concern and fear that is felt by so many.

  15. Simon and Garfunkel had a way with words...it looks as though we are all in need of bridges these days with all the turbulence in the world. We will have to be each other's bridges of love and solidarity in order for a growing, collective unease to hopefully be eased. Our hearts are heavy here in Canada too.

  17. Thanks for reminding us of that beautiful song. Most of us on this side of the Pond are not feeling well after the events of this past week. Thanks for the big hug of friendship.
