Vidock's Valiant Vendredi

Vidock: Studly Neighs, EveryFriend! The Big V here! I am doing my best to be valiant but I have to tell you that things have been a little tough for me. Gather round and I will tell you more.

As you know, I have been feeling off-colour the past few weeks. #1 had a series of blood tests done on me and everything appeared normal. So, on Tuesday, Mr. JP came to ride me again to see how I was, and I wasn't great... On the 200m slope uphill going into the woods, I had to stop six times to catch my breath, and Mr. JP even felt me stumbling once or twice. He said to #1 that there was still something clearly wrong and he was beginning to wonder if it wasn't a problem with either my lungs or heart. Ouch! So, #1 spent a lot of time talking with various knowledgeable people, most importantly with Dr. C. She is the vet for Tommy and the Chans. She doesn't normally deal with us Vs because we are too far away from her practice, and it's tough for #1 to transport us as she doesn't have a trailer. But Dr. C and her husband, Dr. R, breed horses so they know a lot about us. Having heard about my state, she told #1 that if I were her horse, she  wouldn't mess about with a test here and a test there. She would pack me up and take me to a really good equine hospital for some serious tests.

Fortunately, Dr. C was able to give #1 the name of an excellent place and I have an appointment for next Tuesday morning. I will have a battery of tests including an endoscopy to check out my lungs, and an ultra-sound and stress test to check out my heart. Then, we will know what the matter is. We are very much hoping it's not a heart problem as there isn't much that can be done for horses with heart issues. So, can I ask for some big-time crossed paws, purrs, woofs, neighs, and anything else you can send my way? Thanks!

#1 snapped a few shots just when Mr. JP started riding me on Tuesday and I seemed pretty energetic and looked really handsome:

Oh, and the wonderful Mr. JP is giving up his whole day on Tuesday to take me to the hospital in his trailer. It's almost two hours away. Thank you, Mr. JP, for being such a good friend.

Before I leave you, I also wanted to say that each and every one of us at The Poupounette was heartbroken to hear that our gorgeous and sweet Sibe friend Ciara  had put on her silver harness and crossed to that special place North of the Rainbow Bridge that welcomes the Woos. She fought such a brave fight against epilepsy for so long, but she finally lost. We bow our heads in respect. You will always be in our hearts, Ciara.

  5. We are crossing our paws for you Big V and hope the horse vets can figure out what is wrong. We are also praying that it is something they can help you with. It made us very sad to read about Ciara's passing. The only blessing is that she is at peace now.

  8. J'espère que ces futurs examens vont permettre de trouver exactement quel est le problème de Vidock. Et j'espère surtout que ce problème ne sera que temporaire.
Avec Violette et son problème de naviculaire et Genji, ça fait beaucoup de soucis.
