Well Done on Wednesday!

Da Beebs: I don't know whether we have mentioned this in the past but our #1 grew up with no pets. She has always loved animals and desperately wanted a cat or dog when she was little, but her parents always said no, citing all sorts of excuses. In fact, the family as a whole was a bit of a pet desert. So, it's no surprise that #1's cousin, Ms. K, also grew up without any animals. What is more, she was told early on that she was (might be?) allergic to cats and dogs, so that was that. As she married and had her own daughters, they started asking for a pet and she automatically said no. And so the years passed. And then one day, someone told her about some kittens who needed a home and something shifted deep inside her. Almost without realising it, she said she was interested and then went home and asked the girls. They and their father looked at her with open mouths, but they jumped on the opportunity! And so what it was that a tiny little panther called Olive came to live with the family!

Amazingly enough, Ms. K's allergies proved non-existent, and little Olive now has the entire family firmly wrapped around her velvety paws!

Well done, Miss Olive, for making yet another family into cat lovers! We are proud to have you as a cousin!

  1. Paws up for Miss Olive and her family! My human can't imagine growing up without pets - she had lots, and not just cats and a dog. She also brought home lizards and had snakes! And they also had a parakeet, or budgie.

  2. We are delighted that Olive broke the "no pet" barrier.
We can see that she is mighty cute and irresistible.
It's a win win for all!

  3. Olive looks a sweet lady - funnily enough there is a lady near us who found a black cat a couple of years ago - she came over to me and begged for cat food as she had only had dogs before. Miss Olive looks just like "Bourneville" the cat from across our close (she's called Bourneville as she made Diane think of a chocolate bar!

  9. Nice to meet you Miss Olive! What a great story! I almost adopted a kitten front The CatCon, Los Angeles,CA overthe weekend. However, I'm not allowed to have pets where I live. Many people told me to do it anyway, but I don't want to get kicked out. They have kept my rent the same for 6yrs. I can't argue with that! Anypaw, there was a happy ending for Olive. Hope everyone has a happy Wednesday!

  14. So glad to hear that Olive has such a good home, many black cats are last to be adopted.

Thank you for dropping by with your words of comfort. June has not been a good month for us, with first losing Cookie and then unexpectedly Moe. We are heartbroken, and hoping the happy times we shared with both will help heal our hearts.

  19. Mum's Dad was like that too. Cats belonged in the barn, not in the house. They had parakeets. Plus mum rented for a long time, so couldn't have pets either. Now with a house, she has lots of room for me!
