Thankful or Thankless Thursday?

Da Genj: Yesterday morning, #1 came back upstairs after taking Tommy out briefly and this is what she found...

In case you can't see clearly, those are tiny, soft downy FEATHERS!

She was, as one would expect, appalled (sigh). Then she realised that we were hovering around the shelf unit in her bedroom, the one that is very low to the ground, too low for us to get under, and she began to wonder... She went to get her flashlight, shoved us outside and looked under... And there was a little blackbird, totally terrified, huddling near the wall. It looked like a juvenile:

(we borrowed the photo from the web)

Miraculously (or so SHE thought), she was able to get hold of it and immediately took it to the window where it flew away. It seemed relatively unharmed although she was rather concerned about all those downy feathers on the carpet...

She is still scratching her head trying to figure out how it even got inside the house. She of course has not apologised to us for spoiling our good time...

  1. A cat must hunt- that's just what a cat does. Sometimes beans are spoilsports although san says she is quite relieved the bird flew away.

  2. Wow, what lucky kitties, getting to do some birdy hunting indoors! I've seen LOTS of birdies, inside and out, but sadly only from a distance...

P.S. All those feathers make me wonder if there wasn't a second bird that wasn't quite as lucky as the one #1 found.

  3. The birdie did the right thing by going under the shelving unit. Mom is glad it flew away.

  12. Gosh guys - you should have worked faster and you would have had lunch. Whoops, M just yelled at me for even thinking that about that poor birdie. She said I'd better change my tune. She won't let me get birdies either and she feeds them.

  18. That bird was very lucky to still be alive after losing so many feathers. It must have been a good game when it got in the house to play with you.
