Way-Back Wednesday

Tama-Chan: Yes, it's me again. And yes, Tommy and #1 are leaving today. They plan to head out around noon.  We had some nice comments yesterday about Ikkyu, TOWCB, whose birthday was on September 2nd, so we thought we would show you some more pics of him today!

His arrival was a little unusual. #1 was living in Tokyo and had gone through a fairly bad depression. She was lucky to find a wonderful counsellor who helped through it, and this lady had an Abyssinian cat who had a litter of kittens. The counsellor had determined early on that #1 badly needed a kitty in her life, and that is how Ikkyu arrived! He was only seven weeks old:

But he very quickly made himself at home:

Ikkyu was a one-woman cat and the only person he loved in the whole world was #1. Together, they had many adventures! Ikkyu always joined in on the travelling:

They travelled together by plane…..

And through the Eurotunnel:

He helped with celebrations:

Advised her on her work:

And loved to relax:

Ikkyu never had to go to the vet for anything other than his annual shots for the first 10 years of his life. But, when he was 11, he started showing signs of renal trouble. He did well for a few more years but, at 14, he also developed diabetes and the combination of the two got the better of him a few days before his 15th birthday. He left #1 with a life-long love of Abyssinian cats, and here we all are!

This last picture is taken about a year before he went to the Bridge:

Thank you, Ikkyu, for the legacy of love you left.

  15. Thank you #1 for sharing the story of Ikkyu and how he led to your family of Abyssinians. I had to look up Ikkyu - not sure if Ikkyu was named after the monk and poet, but 'Crazy Cloud' made me smile. What a wonderful companion Ikkyu was - and what a wonderful legacy he leaves.

  17. Après la douleur de la perte restent les doux souvenirs.
Les chats, surtout les Abyssins sont de merveilleux remèdes contre les maux de l'esprit.
Ikkyu tu étais l'âme soeur de ton humaine comme Hisia est la mienne.
