A Farewell to a Friend

#1 here again. In our last post, I told you about a visit from a springer spaniel called Murphy. Today, I would like to pay tribute to his big brother, OSCAR, a liver and white springer spaniel who went to the Bridge a few days ago. Oscar was the very first springer I met, many years ago, and he was a tiny puppy at the time, the centre of attention at a party I was giving at my cottage. He grew into a fine boy, handsome and loving and full of fun. But he started having problems with his eyesight and eventually became blind, which did not take away from his quality of life. Young Muprhy was his playmate and his "guide dog." But then, Oscar fell victim to the big C and, when nothing more could be done for him, it was with enormous sadness that his adoring mistress, Ms.K, helped him to the Bridge last week. Goodbye, sweet Oscar. Run free with all of the great friends you will be making over there!

  4. Our deepest sympathies to Ms K on the death of her dear friend Oscar. He looks like he was a wonderful dog...and what a lucky fellow to have a young pup become his seeing eye dog. We're sure he's playing happily over the Rainbow Bridge with Meowmy's friend Gloria's Tugger, a wonderful Cairn Terrier who crossed over a few months ago after a very long life.

  6. That was a lovely farewell to your friend Oscar. He reminded the little man's mum of her springer Tara that she had as a child - Oscar looked very similar to Tara.

It's not easy when a dog goes.

Best wishes from all the gang here

  12. We send special purrs to Oscar's mom and his little brofur. It's the hardest thing to let a loved one go, but she ended his suffering by doing so. That was very strong!

  16. Oh that's so sad... Unca' Pete's kitty Jordan is having a biopsy right now for suspected cancer so I think Oscar will have a kitty playmate crossing over the bridge very shortly. I hope he likes kitties, as she's a very sweet one with a cute squeaky voice!

Many purrs to Ms K, at this most difficult of times...

    Purrs,
    Setra
    xx

PS: Can Sei-Chan come over and play with me and Keekai please? Mummy's all distracted with comforting Unca' Pete and I need to do some playin'

    Thanks you!
